Compatibility Mode in Internet Explorer

Opening Sites in Compatibility Mode in Internet Explorer

Websites that are designed for pervious versions of Internet Explorer don’t always display or function as expected in the current version. Often, they will display properly, they just won’t function properly.

For instance, if you have multiple tabs open in an Internet Explorer session and you go to close a single tab but Internet Explorer shuts down all of the tabs. This is a compatibility issue.

Also, If you are using OnContact or iMail in an Internet Explorer session and go to send an email message, you see the spinning wheel that gives you the impression your message is being sent but never goes away. That too is a compatibility issue.

A quick fix to a compatibility issue is to go up the address bar and click on the icon that looks like a page broken into two pieces.

You may also hold down the tab button on your keyboard and press the letter “t”. This activates the tools menu in Internet Explorer and should appear. Go down to Compatibility View Settings. There, you can add site to the list instructing Internet Explorer to always open the site in compatibility mode.
